Biking in Umstead Park

****Umstead Park is on the original land of the Skaruhreh/Tuscarora Peoples****

I'd heard so many friends talk about the bike trails at Umstead Park, and I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to explore them! I had so much fun exploring the park on two wheels with my adventuring loving homie Thao! What a gift to have such a beautiful, ginormous (35 mi of hiking trails & 13 miles of biking/horseback riding trails) state park in the heart of our capital city!

The bike trail was super dope as it took you deep into the park where you can get away from the hustle and bustle and get lost in the midst of the beautiful beech trees!

Now you know: There are two entrances to Umstead Park. Reedy Creek & one of Glenwood. There are two entrances apparently because the Reedy Creek entrance was designated for Blacks to use before 1966. No matter how far you go, we're never too far away from the legacy of discrimination and oppression in our country.

Grateful the place where my grandfather once couldn't go is where two people of color could experience life and joy! :))

Supper cool tree carving that can be found deep into the park!
