Next up were the communities of Merry Oaks, New Hill, Corinth, and Bells! :)
- Merry Oaks once boasted one of the finest schools in all of Chatham! Merry Oaks Academy was known for its incredible barbecues that were so well known that news reporters from the News and Observer came out for them. One of the reporters who visited said the barbecue was so good that it "would tempt the palate of the most adept epicurean." .... Whatever that means!
- Next up was the community of New Hill. New Hill borders Wake County and is where there Chatham Co. portion of the tobacco trail is located. It's now an ever growing area with lots of new developments shooting up everywhere (and a brewery that seems to come out of nowhere!)
- Corinth was my next destination! Corinth's claim to fame was the way community members took pride in decorating their houses with Christmas lights during the holidays! The pride folks had in their homes was still evident in the community as I saw many people sitting on their front porch taking in the day as I drove by :).
- Last on this trip was the community of Bells! Bells was definitely my FAVORITE stop on the trip! :) There was a beautiful little hiking trail all along Jordan lake the was absolutely gorgeous... that is until I stumbled upon a group's trash that they left! Oh, it made me so mad. Grrr.. But it led me to my RAK #9.
I can't believe I've just discovered this little slice of heaven in Chatham! I can't wait to come back to swim in its waters!
