Ok, I'm sorry for that terrible pun, but I just couldn't resist!
Took a trip to Person County for what felt like the first time and really enjoyed it! The drive out was beautiful as my friend and I drove past rolling hills of farm land for miles. :)
Mayo Lake State Park was our destination! We rented some stand up paddle boards and managed to avoid the boats and not to fall off of our board!
All in all, Lake Mayo is not a bad place to spend the day if you don't live too far away! There's a disc golf course, park, and camp grounds and cabins for folks looking to spend the night. Additionally, the park's staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - sometimes you just can't beat small town hospitality.
Highlights:
- Paddle boarding with the homie - always fun to cross parks/counties off the list with friends!
- Experiencing the kindness and generosity of the staff
