Got the opportunity to visit two of NC's most unique rock forms: Pilot Mountain State Park and Stone Mountain State Park.

I thought Pilot Mountain was overrated because it is so often talked about and visited - but there's a reason it's one of the most popular state parks in NC - because It's frigging beautiful! And the way Big Pinnacle (the park's peak) can be seen for miles and seems to pop out of the ground from nowhere gives it a magical even mystical aurora. I slowly traced my hands along it's base as I hiked around it.

After leaving Pilot Mountain, I decided to make the 40 mi trek to see another of one NC's unique rock formations that left me in awe: Stone Mountain State Park. Stone Mountain's granite jets up 600 ft in the air above its surroundings and looks like it was plopped on the ground by some alien. I sat and stared at the magical mountain for what felt like ages, not able to wrap my mind around its beauty.

Both parks are a 10/10 that I highly recommend!
