***Lake James State Park is on the traditional land of the Catawba and Yuchi Indigenous Peoples***
My first State Park on my journey to visit all 41 was Lake James! :) Lake James has to be one of the most beautiful lakes in NC, with its bluish/green water, mountain views, and cool hiking/biking trails, you won't go wrong visiting Lake James!
Highlights:
- I definitely recommend doing the Overlook Trail for an amazing view of Lake James and Linville Gorge!
- Also had a blast on the 15+ miles of mountain biking trails. They're perfect for the Beginner/Intermediate mountain biker!
- Camp site was amazing! A little hike to the sites but well worth it! Super clean and clear spots. Also, cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen at a campsite! Pro tip: book campsite #4 for sick view of the lake!
- The water felt AMAZING!
- Met the coolest people while at the campsite!
Awesome peeps I met in the park who allowed me to have S'mores with them! #campmagic
Two Birds: Lake James is in McDowell and Burke counties, so I can cross these two of the list! 3 down Only 97 more to go!
Two Thumbs up, well only one in the picture, for Lake James!
