One of my favorite parts of my travels so far haven't been the beautiful state parks I've been to, or the delicious small town ice cream places I've checked out - but it's been the long rides down backcountry roads I've never seen before. It's been passing endless miles of farm land, waving at the old ladies sitting on their porch or nodding my head at the guy cutting his grass - imagining what life might be like for them and feeling slightly closer to my NC neighbors.
I've loved so much seeing parts of NC I've never seen before, and I wonder, if in the process, it's making me a little better able to relate to someone who lives on a farm in the middle of nowhere, a little better able to connect to someone relies on their local market for groceries, and maybe even a little more human in the process (or maybe just better able to relate when someone complains about the mosquitoes in Eastern NC!) :)
Feeling so lucky to live in this beautiful state and hoping these travels will help me feel more connected to the beautiful people who inhabit it!
Check out this month's posts for my Spring Break Travels through (Carteret County, Ocracoke Island, OBX, and more and to find out what one of my favorite state parks have been so far!)
Here's to hopefully, being a tad bit more human along this journey.
